Debbie McIntyre

With over 35 years of successful business and leadership experience in Advertising, Marketing, Research and Media, Gill Randall and Debbie McIntyre have joined forces under the Consilience Marketing Group, to help you grow your brands by advancing the Advertising and Marketing industry, in global best-practice Evidence-based Marketing knowledge.
Our pledge, to make South African marketers ‘better’ than their global counterparts, stems from our decades-long exposure to the new and cutting-edge discoveries in the SCIENCE of Marketing, Advertising and Consumer Behaviour.

Our path was driven and encouraged by our highly regarded mentor, Noel Coburn, co-founder of the JSE-listed company, Caxton/CTP- an astute businessman and research luminary, but more importantly, a teacher and a scientist at heart.

We both have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge and have been instrumental in bringing many international experts in their fields, to present their insights to our South African industry.

Globally, we benefit from long – standing relationships and associations with many of these respected professionals and organisations in Academia, Marketing and Martech.

The most notable are: The Ehrenberg Bass Institute for Marketing Science (EBI) – Our Loadstar !

EBI is the home of Evidence-based Marketing and voted Number 1 in the world for Brand Management Research.
Caxton remained the only South African member of the institute for two decades. As their front line executives, we were able to develop personal and business relationships with Byron Sharp and many of the other senior researchers.

We hosted one of their Academics in South Africa, every year, for 20 years. Spending quality time with these globally respected Academics, enabled us to develop a deep understanding of their Research findings and Principles for Effective Marketing. 

Lumen(U.K)

A Research and Technology company at the forefront of pioneering the measuring of attention through eye-tracking.

A first for South Africa – We commissioned Lumen to conduct an attention measurement audit on Caxton local media and invited Mike Follett, the founder, to present Lumen’s global findings and our bespoke results ,to the South African industry.

Retail Advertising and Marketing Association of America (RAMA)
By attending RAMA’s annual conferences, we put South Africa on this associations radar and then bought many of their senior retail marketers to South Africa to present to our industry.

Locally, we have worked closely with many of the country’s senior marketing, advertising, media and retail professionals, including Unilever, Proctor& Gamble, Massmart, PicknPay, Woolworths, The Media Shop, Dentsu, OMD ,amongst others.

Our working history with these powerful players in the industry was largely underpinned by our 35 year involvement in Roots, Caxton’s award winning, biggest and longest running quantitative shopper behaviour and readership survey.
Our varied experience, together with our constant exposure to global-best practices and developments in marketing, has given us a unique vantage point and a knowledge-base of Evidence-based Marketing(EBM), which, in South Africa, is hard to equal.
